Faros Market

John and I stopped by Faros Market on our way back from watching the sunset by the lighthouse at the southern tip of Santorini (epic view from there by the way). We had no idea it was a farmer’s market until we pulled up and were originally going to pop by for a coffee before heading back to Fira where we were staying.

We were delighted by the organic foods and local specialities they make, which included sun-dried tomato jams, zucchini paste, thyme honey and flavoured oils. They quickly offered us a taste and were even kind enough to make us a Frappe (although that’s not what they usually sell there). They also make their own wine and you can take a wine tour to delve deeper into the experience. Maria, the shopkeeper, and her family were very friendly and helpful.

Faros Market is run by a family committed to organic farming and have been doing so for generations. It’s definitely worth a visit to support this local business and to gather up some authentic organic Greek products to eat or take home for friends.
