I collect travel quotes on my pinterest board and one that regularly appears on my stream, always in new layouts, is the following by J.R.R. Tolkien. I personally love the quote and was interested to see how different people visualize it (the designer in me speaking here) so I started collecting a few of my favorites to share here.
Those 7 words, simple as they may appear, carry a lot of significance and reassure us that just because we don’t know where we’re going at times, that doesn’t mean we’re not going somewhere. Who of us can’t relate to this feeling at some point in our lives, right?
For me personally, this quote represents and reminds me of the essence of travel. Getting lost is not a bad thing and on the contrary, my most memorable travel experiences have been when I was “lost” or wandering. It makes us more open to new experiences and discoveries when we’re just a little bit vulnerable to new surroundings.
Now tell me, which of these is your favorite? Have you spotted others you like for us to add to this collection?
Forgive me for not crediting all the images that were found online (most didn’t link back to the source), but I’d be happy to include appropriate mention if any of these are yours.
