Few people know this about me, but I was born in Saudi Arabia while my parents were living there back in the 80s. Why on earth would I want to go there now? A connection to my vague childhood there? Curiosity? Both I guess and for only three days, I should get a good taste of what it’s really like there.
From the people I’ve asked about interesting things to do (aka non-shopping related), I got one good suggestion to visit an old souk. Hope to find some funky old knick-knacks to bring back home, or if I’m lucky, some old cameras. The only thing that’s disappointing about going there, besides having to wear a abaya and losing all sorts of independence on the road, is not being able to take photos.
